On Tuesday afternoon, the conference will have an excursion to the royal Korean Palace (Changdeokgung), which is one of the “Five Grand Palaces” constructed during the Joseon Dynasty. The excursion will consist of a short bus ride from the Lotte Hotel to the palace for a guided tour. At the conclusion of the tour, the buses will take attendees to the location for the evening’s banquet. We will have options for attendees to skip the excursion if they wish (for example for local attendees who have visited the palace before). Additional buses will depart directly from Lotte Hotel for the banquet. During registration, please specify whether you plan on attending the excursion and/or banquet so that we can accurately plan for the proper number of buses.
Excursion Details
The originally planned tour of Gyeongbukgong Palace had to be changed due to the closure of the palace on June 21st. Gyeongbukgong Palace is a relatively short walk away from Lotte Hotel (<1 mile), and so we encourage attendees to explore it on their own before or after the conference.

Buses will depart from Lotte Hotel starting at 4:00pm. Each bus will have a tour guide that will take you through the palace and provide information about both the history of the palace as well as of Korea. Please stay with the tour guide (bus group) that you arrived to the palace with. This is critical for us to make sure that we don’t leave anyone behind!
